Trend Alert: Think Pink

Pink is the IT colour for handbags this season
It’s official – fashion is having a pink moment – especially when it comes to bags. Hot pink bags have been spotted on some of the most fashionable arms in town – and with fashion lovers eyeing the candy-pink Moschino Barbie collection zipper bag, this is not a trend that is fading fast.

Pretty and whimsical  - Canary Cove jewellery

It’s always lovely when a new designer launches something unique. Tanya Maskatiya’s Canary Cove line of girls’ jewellery and home accessories is unlike anything available locally so far. Unlike the cheap plastic trinkets you find all over town, Canary Cove’s pieces combine girlish charm with luxe chic and will appeal to girls of all ages. This pre-Eid trunk show is just the beginning - the brand's ultimate vision is to develop a whole line of accessories for both boys and girls.

Not just for little girls - Tanya Mirza-Ashraf wears Canary Cove

Canary Cove launches on Saturday, September 27th with a one-day-only trunk show at Sania Maskatiya’s store, Dolmen Mall.

Classy & pretty but not a disaster if your little princess loses them

These charming, beautifully designed ornaments from abroad and Pakistan have been made using the finest sterling silver, yellow/white-plated gold as well as yellow gold. Embellished with precious birthstones and colorful enamel, in playful butterfly, heart-shaped and floral motifs, Canary Cove’s baubles are the lovely range of gifts to mark any type of special occasion; births, birthdays, anniversaries and graduations.

Whether you're looking for precious keepsakes for a newborn or something for the petite sophisticate, Canary Cove's jewellery line is sure to carry a piece that reflects your individual style.

There is a vast range of earring studs for newborns. These are not plated but are made in gold. The butterfly studs, for instance, are intricately made in gold with some cubic zirconia detailing.  The price for any of these gold earring studs does not exceed Rs. 6,000.

Some of my favourite pieces are the key pendant and lucky clover stone (both white gold and yellow gold plated, made in fine silver) and can be worn by teenagers and adults alike. All chains are stamped “Made in Italy” in sterling silver and/or sterling silver gold-plated. Prices once again are very reasonable.

Most of the jewellery is priced between Rs2,500 and Rs7,500 and is prettily wrapped in custom printed butter paper and packaging – always a nice touch when you’re giving a gift.

Every customer will also receive a complimentary bottle of Canary Cove lotion, developed specially for this launch. The texture of the lotion is lovely and its fragrance, dubbed “Vanilla Sugar” by the designer’s daughter, is heavenly.

Canary Cove's home accessories feature a whimsical range of storage units for all those fashionable trimmings that a young girl loves to collect. The range features small jewellery busts, compact personalised trunks, mountable armoires, bangle stands and birdcage stands. The accessories will be used to display the exhibition items and will be available for order. The soft colours, vintage style and bespoke printed trimmings of the range help these accessories add a pretty femininity to any room. The accessories are priced from Rs4,500 - Rs12,000.

Khoobsurat Review - The Bollywood Movie has plenty of Beauty but no soul

Fawad Khan is awesome and Sonam Kapoor has improved no end but the film is contrived and tedious.
Cast:     Fawad Khan, Sonam Kapoor, Rathna Pathak, Ashok Banthia and Kirron Kher
Stars:    2.5 out of 5

Khoobsurat stars Sonam Kapoor as a top physiotherapist (Milli Chakroborty) who’s summoned to the home of Prince Viram Singh Rathore (played by Pakistani heartthrob Fawad Khan) to treat his surly, wheelchair bound father. The Disney movie should have been a frothy fairytale about how the bubbly newcomer scandalizes and ultimately wins over the hidebound Raja’s family. Even a cliché can be charming if it’s well done. Khoobsurat, however, fails to build any sort of momentum and while there are some cute scenes, the overall effect is contrived and wearisome.
