Flick through the people pages of any high-end Pakistani magazine and you’ll see how much society ladies love iconic bags. Despite the multitude of designers out there, you’ll undoubtedly see the same crop of Birkins, Bottega knot clutches, Chanel 2.55s and LV Neverfulls.

Dedh Ishqiya style guide - Madhuri Dixit-Nene and Naseeruddin Shah in Nawabi style
Nawabi styling makes a hit in the excellent period comedy-thriller
I love a film with style. If the plot or the acting isn’t up to scratch, at least you can enjoy feasting your eyes on the set and the costumes. In films like Dedh Ishqiya, where the storyline and performances are superb, great styling is the icing on the cake.

Review: Grease The Musical delivers a fun night out to Karachi

A little slice of Broadway hit Karachi this week. Nida Butt’s much-anticipated Grease opened this week to a packed theatre. With shows like Chicago and Mamma Mia under her belt, Butt has shown she can put together a great musical. Grease scores for its energy, excellent choreography and strong performances by most of the cast, particularly the incredibly talented Sanam Saeed. Her co-star Ayesha Omer will undoubtedly also pull in many fans, eager to see her perform live, but she doesn’t quite live up to the role of Sandy. Despite Omer’s patchy performance, the show is entertaining, engaging and tremendous fun.
